LISTEN YE TO MY DIY DEMOS... AND TREMBLE!
Heyo! My name's Jason Masula, and thanks for dropping by my teeny, tiny little corner of the intranets! Though it's a bit on the humble side, this is where I ply my trade in voiceover (VO), so welcome and well met!I've been told by certified humans that humans like to know things about other humans, especially if they're going to collaborate with them! As such, and in accordance with tradition, I'd like to tell you just a bit about myself so that I'm not a total stranger to you.I started down the pebble-strewn, sometimes overgrown and intermittently bumpy path of VO back in 2020 because I had grown tired of working at something for which I had no passion or love, just to make ends meet. I mean, I like making ends meet just as much as the next person who lives in the modern world, but 25+ years in the retail industry would bore just about anyone into making a major life decision. So, at the spry young age of 39 (a few months shy of 40 at the time), I decided to attempt to make it in a business the majority of people don't even know exists and started speaking funny into a mic. However, I quickly discovered that in order to really bring it to VO and give it a good fight, I would have to come out from my shell and go on the offence. Go figure, but the whole "acting" thing is so much easier when you're having fun and are confident enough to do it without self-consciousness. So, I set out to find myself using VO as both the vehicle and the fuel, and in a few years I've basically become a different person. I've dug myself out from under decades of trauma and false ideas of who I was and who I thought I was supposed to be; I discovered myself hiding in my own shadow.AND I LOVE ME!This love and the realization thereof led me to self-reflection, which then led me to more self-discovery and on and on like an ouroboros of personal growth, and I've been on this surreal, whimsical journey ever since. Now, four-ish years in, and all I want to do is be the bubbly, bright sun in as many people's lives as I can and to move that needle towards the greatest good for humanity as I may possibly muster. For me, that means inspiring people. And those last two sentences are things I would have never said or thought five or more years ago.So here I am. I'm good with voices and I love to sing and I love music and hiking. I have a penchant for role-playing games and philosophy and history, and I love a good MMORPG. I've memorized the entire contents of most D&D bestiaries and I know more about the history of Golarion than I do about the road names in my hometown. I'm a nerd, okay? A nerd who wants to be a voice in your world.
Now, I hear you asking yourself, "Self, why should I hire this guy to do voice over work for me?"Well, I'll tell you! Character work is my passion and it's what I love most. It's genuinely fun for me, and I believe that can be heard in my voiceover work, that genuine sense of fun. It translates to real sounding characters because, while I'm doing that voice, I'm wholly here in the present, doing what I'm built to do. I also have 2 years of experience voicing audiobooks for Actors Everywhere/GoodFM out of NYC as a remote actor, and that doesn't hurt at all. And, as a little cherry on top, I write! Short stories and my own scripts! If you want a talented, reliable, fun-loving, whimsical and committed vocabularian voice actor to bring voice to your imaginings, you've no need to search further. I promise you, we're going to have a BLAST working together!
